Summer in Style: Essential Garb for Men

With the dog days of summer squarely upon us, and the mercury climbing into the triple digits all across the country, style isn’t the first thing on everyone’s radar while getting dressed in the morning.

But that doesn’t mean you should let the sultry weather make you look hot and bothered. The key to beating the heat while staying “put together” through July and August is all about wearing natural fabrics. Even though those mesh shorts and oversized Joakim Noah jersey have ventilation holes punched in them, or that tech-y golf polo says “ClimaCool”—you’re going to be anything but cool. Literally and figuratively (polyester does not breathe as well as cotton and also retains odors…definitely not cool).

Instead, opt for breezy, featherweight cotton shirts, well cut shorts that will keep air flowing in all the right places (if you catch my drift), colorful accessories, and a great pair of shoes and you’ll be keeping it sprezzy—not swampy—all summer long.

Presented below is an ideal “off duty” summer look for guys. There are no “themes,” “color stories,” or “hot trends.” Rather, we deal with quality, authenticity, and timelessness. It’s all about classic, comfortable clothes that are eternally stylish, and guaranteed to last well beyond the summer of 2012.

Thonis, the legendary port city that served as an entryway to the Egyptian empire, was long considered to be a myth. The tales of its immense power and vast riches conflicted with the evidence of its existence—mainly that there was none. Cities of such grandeur do not typically disappear off the face of the earth. [...]

Kanye West says the darndest things. On his unrelenting quest to become his own species of hip-hop artist, he has established a reputation as irreverent, controversial, and unapologetic. Though he makes time for public grandstanding by claiming a US President “doesn’t care about black people” or interrupting the VMAs, he remains mostly quiet when it [...]

In Holiday, Florida, sits a warehouse. From the outside, it looks like nothing special, but as a joint investigative report from the Tampa Bay Times and the Center for Investigative Reporting uncovered, inside is one of the most useless charity in America: Kids Wish Network. For every dollar it raises, a mere 3 cents goes [...]
