Have you ever been reading The Letters of Virginia Woolf, shuffling through your iPod unable to find the right music for your writing? Everyone knows that feel. Well now there’s a pleasant little site that can help you out.
Literary Jukebox is the new site from Brain Pickings editor Maria Popova. It’s a single functionality site that pairs a quote to a song, marrying great literature to great music. Every micro-literary match is made with to a song with a purpose, Popova says, “Sometimes, the connections will be fairly obvious. Other times, they might be more esoteric and require some reflection.
The site started just a few days ago, but already Literary Jukebox has a couple pairings for your perusal, including a quote from Carl Sagan in Cosmos to Laetitia Sadier’s “Find Me the Pulse of the Universe.” Today’s track is “Eyeoneye” by Andrew Bird paired with a Susan Sontag quote.
Check out the site here, and hopefully it leads to the discovery of some pleasant new literary or musical discoveries.
