Development firm Quantic Dream has unveiled a demo of their new motion-capture 3D engine for PlayStation 3. The intention of the new engine is to replicatate living actors within videogames by handling significant amounts of motion capture assets, with high efficiency and low cost. The video “Kara” is a sample of what version 1.0 of their engine can do.
Quantic Dream is currently developing version 3 of their engine.
The “Kara” short features 50% of the features of their engine and is captured directly off a PlayStation 3 running in real-time. “It’s not CH, it’s not pre-rendered, it’s really the game,” says Quantic Dream CEO David Cage.
It’s stunning and beautiful and might even tug at your heartstrings. Watch on.
