Some of the more visually stunning features of the iPhone 4 and 4s are the full glass front and back panels. The glass gives the phone a brilliantly sleek look that channels Apple’s strongest design motifs. The iPhone screen uses Gorilla Glass, a very strong chemically treated product made by Corning. Still, despite its resilience, many iPhone users have discovered the drawback of a glass iPhone through one mishap or another – even strong glass chips, cracks and shatters.
With the next iPhone on the horizon, its up to the people at Corning to make better, stronger glass to negate the iPhone 4′s drawbacks, and they have. Gorilla Glass 2 is a shoe-in for Apple’s newest products and it looks more impressive than anyone could have anticipated. In this video, a thin piece of glass is run through a gauntlet of intense stresses and tests that showcase unprecedented durability. Check out the demonstration below.
