The Perks of Being a Wallflower Trailer
Stephen Chbosky’s novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an essential adolescent read. With its themes of introversion and becoming one’s own person, it has touched the lives of countless teens since its 1999 release.
In a rare move, Chbosky is also returning to direct the adaption of his novel, starring Logan Lerman as Charlie and Emma Watson as Sam. Paul Rudd stars as Bill, Charlie’s English teacher. The release date has not yet been confirmed, but the exclusive trailer has been released to coincide with the MTV movie awards.
From what this short preview holds, it looks to (unsurprisingly) stay true to the author’s work. Particularly interesting is the brief moments of partying, as the inclusion of the some of the more illicit moments of the novel could challenge a PG-13 rating. But conspicuously absent is some of the amazing music mentioned in the novel. Nonetheless, watch the trailer below, and be stunned by Emma Watson’s American accent.
