Watch: Mister Rogers Remixed and Auto-Tuned by Order of the Public Broadcasting System

PBS has turned to the Internet’s mashup master John “Melodysheep” Boswell of Symphony of Science to remix and auto-tune the late Mister Fred Rogers. The video is the first in the “PBS Icon Remixed” series. Since being posted on June 7, the video has gone viral accumulating nearly 1 million views. After approaching Boswell, PBS learned he was an avid Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood fan and was eager to pay tribute.

The drum machines, auto-tune, and slide flute solo aren’t exactly the environment Fred prescribed on the show, but the message is undoubtedly his. In the chorus, he sings:

Did you ever grow anything
in the garden of your mind
You can grow ideas
In the garden of your mind

It’s good to be curious
about many things
you can think about things
and make believe
all you have to do is think
and they’ll grow
